Q: I love your artwork! Can I please use it to make signature and tube files? I'll credit you and everything!! Oh please oh please oh please!!?!?!
A: Chuckles. I get asked this alot and while I don't mind in general there are a few rules that I'll have to ask you to strictly observe.
- No selling the artwork. Period. That means selling on Tshirts or otherwise or putting it on a site where folks have to pay to see it.
- No linking directly to the art on my webserver. I have to pay for my bandwidth and I won't be a very nice person if I find you've been making me pay for yours too.
- Include a link back to this website with the artwork and the name Lady Littlefox Designs with the sig/tube so that those who see you use it and like it know where you got it and can come visit. When at all possible leave the signature on the artwork intact.
- DO NOT USE ANYTHING THAT IS NOT IN THE GALLERY!!!!
- DO NOT USE ANYTHING IN THE GALLERY THAT IS UNDER THE HEADING 'COMMISSION' or 'PERSONAL' ART. The commissions are pictures of peoples loved ones that I was paid to create. They are for display only. The personal art is part of several on-going personal projects that I am developing or are my own personal avatars.
Q: How did you get started in Poser Art?
A: Kinda funny how it all begins. I learned to use CAD in college but it wasn't until I was practicing animation after my Master's death that I found the need for a stand in... something that I could use to make sure my toons were in correct proportions to each other for multi character scenes. I needed a visualization aid and since I had Poser 1 from its early early days, I went back to it's newest version, then Poser 4 and started trying to make the figures there work. Unfortunately my toon style is so hugely different in proportions to all the figures available at the time that I had to make my own character. So I stole my husband's computer one morning while he was at work and set out to learn LightWave and ended up making Koshini ;) By then it was Poser Pro I was working with and the rest ast they say is history.
Q: What modeling program do you use and what would you recommend for me?
A: Well right now I use almost exclusively SoftImage's XSI Essentials. The tools I find are very much designed to my style of work and I'm 3x faster at modeling in it than I was in LightWave. This said however, I really wouldn't recommend XSI to a total beginner. If you have some modeling background then definitely give it a try. Their foundation version is priced well within most budgets and has most of the nifty features that I love it for. If you are just starting out though, I highly recommend looking into Nevercenter's Silo. Silo2 is due any time now as I write this and from all I've seen it is positively incredible in the amount of power it has as a modeling engine and will be adding UVmapping among other things to its next version. It's low price really can't be beat for the shere amount of power it offers.
Q: I looked at your list of software... EEEEEEP!!! Do I need all of that stuff to make my own poser models.
A: Heavens no, those are the tools I've collected over the past 4-5 years to make my job faster and a bit easier, however just starting out all you'll need is Poser, A Modeling program, a UVmapping program if your modeler doesn't handle it, and a Texturing program. UVmapper Classic is still free. Silo is relatively inexpensive, and Gimp might be able to get you by in Texturing till you can afford something larger, though Jasc's Paintshop is relatively cheap and has a great number of tools.
Q: I am so stumped on this whole jointing thing! Please if I send you my CR2, can you help me?
A: I would really love to but with two kids and so many projects I'm usually pressed for time. However I can direct you to a few sources of help that are sure to get back to you faster than I could ;) First off if you haven't visited RuntimeDNA, you may want to. There are several forums devoted to all manner of Poser questions and the folks there are very friendly! Second, check out at Amazon or your local book seller a book by B. L. Render called Secrets of Figure Creation with Poser 5. While the book title focuses on P5, the information is good for nearly every version of Poser and it has the most complete listing of Poser Knowledge I have seen to date. It even walks you step by step from modeling to grouping to jointing with a CD full of examples to help you out. Definitely a good thing to have as you get more advanced. I use mine constantly.
Q: When will you be opening commissions back up for artwork? I really really want one of my son as a.......
A: Heavens I would love to but I really don't have much time these days however this is one of the reasons I released Koshini to the open market, so that folks could take a 3d Character of my art style and create their own art. If you aren't so sure about your poser talents or don't want to go to that expense, you can always post a request to the Koshini Alerts Forum or over at the Koshini Forum at RDNA. There you'll find hordes of people who are avid Koshini users who could make the art you want , all you have to do is ask nicely ;)
